Lucas Pedroza brought pride to SM City – Bacolod and, his school, Bacolod Tay Tung High School, after securing 2nd Runner-Up in the SM Super Spelling Bee 2025 Grand Finals help on October 4, 2025, at the Music Hall, Mall of Asia.
He joined the national competition after placing first in the SM City – Bacolod elimination round held last August 23, 2025.
He bested numerous contenders and finished as 2nd Runner-Up out of 41 finalists, each representing an SM branch from across the country.
Guided by his coach, Mrs. Maria Shiela Bajan, he showcased his spelling prowess and confidence on stage.
For his outstanding performance, Lucas received a medal, a plaque, and generous prizes including:
– 100% tuition discount at National University (NU) in any four-year-degree program nationwide
– ₱20,000 worth of cash and SM gift certificates
– ₱50,000 worth of National Bookstore gift certificates
– ₱10,000 worth of Jollibee e-gift cards
– 13-inch MacBook Air from Power Mac Center
