Library is a quiet place where we can read books, magazines, newspapers and study our lessons. It serves as a learning resource center of the school.

  • It houses books, periodicals, charts and other materials that can be borrowed by the students and teachers to supplement their textbooks and classroom studies or use.
  • It collects, preserves and organized the knowledge that has accumulated throughout the ages - knowledge that educates us, entertain us, and opens door to ideas and places that we otherwise may never have dreamed/existed.

 

LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

When you enter a library - no matter where it is or how large or small it is - there is one thing you immediately notice: IT IS QUIET! The library is a place where people focus their attention on reading research. Loud conversation, music, eating, drinking and other distractions are not allowed because they make concentration difficult. Since the library is open to everyone, it is important that these rules of conduct be observed.

It is important to know how to take care of the books, periodicals and other materials provided by the library. If they are damaged they will no longer be available.

 

CONDUCT INSIDE THE LIBRARY

*Important: No Library ID, No Entry!
Present your ID to the entrance checker upon entering the Library .
Leave your things outside before entering the library. Only pieces of papers are allowed.

  • Observe courtesy inside the library.
  • Observe SILENCE! Shouting, running, playing and unnecessary conversation is not allowed. Refrain from doing unbecoming behavior inside the library.
  • Eating and drinking inside the library is not allowed.
  • Return books and magazines in their proper places after use.
  • Push back the chairs before leaving the library.
  • No vandalism. Do not write anything on the books, magazines, tables, chairs and walls.
  • No littering. Do not throw your garbage anywhere.
  • Do not tear out the pages of books or magazines.
  • Always remove a book from the shelf by the middle of its spine.
  • Open the book carefully so that the spine will not break
  • Turn the pages by holding the upper right-hand corner
  • Use a flat bookmark - never turn down the corner of a page to mark your place.
  • Always try to return the books you check out by their due dates - other people maybe wanting to enjoy them as you have.

 

ON THE LIBRARY CARDS

  • Library cards (Library ID) are issued for free, upon the request of the student from Grade 1 to 4 th Year High School.
  • Library cards are not transferable and offenders forfeit their library privileges.
  • Lost library cards must be reported to the Librarian for replacement.

 

CIRCULATION RULES

  • Circulation books are lent out for 3 days and can be renewed for another 3 days. books in great demand may be recalled at any time or limited to shorter circulation period.
  • Reserved books are lent out for overnight only.
  • Only three books can be borrowed at a time.
  • General Reference Books like Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Atlases, yearbooks, magazines, and newspapers are for library use only.

 

FINES AND PENALTIES

  • Overdue fine of P0.50 (non-reserved books) and P1.00 (reserved books) per day for each overdue books.
  • A fine of P5.00 for replacement of lost library cards.
  • Lost books must be reported immediately to the librarian, to stop the overdue fine.
  • Borrowers must replace the lost or damage book.

Students without permission from the teacher during class hours are not allowed to stay in the library.

HOW THE LIBRARY COLLECTION IS ORGANIZED

There are two (2) main standards of library organization:

  • Dewey Decimal Classification - is a numerical scheme for the arrangement of subjects of nonfiction books. The system divides areas of knowledge into ten classes. Each of these classes is divided into 10 division.
  • Card Catalog - The "guidebook" for the library - lists every book the library owns. The library card catalog contains subject, title, and author cards for each book. Each card gives the same information in different order.

OTHER FACILITIES 

Internet Services

Guidlines for students and internet usage:

  • Internet service at the Library is exclusively used for researched purpose. Students are not allowed to access to other services like chat, e-mail, SMS messaging, friendsters, etc.
  • Students & teachers are not allowed to access inappropriate websites and download materials on the Internet that promotes obscene pictures, pornographic images and online-gambling.
  • Diskettes are not allowed.
  • Sanctions for violations will follow.

Procedure

  • A student "log in log out" book should be filled on before and after I-net usage stating date, time, name, purpose and signature.
