Seniors Tree Planting in MKNP
The Seniors Class went to Mount Kanlaon National Park ( MKNP) for a tree planting activity last September 19, 2008.
The
activity was organized as an output in the lesson of Economics
regarding “Land and Natural Resources”. The activity aimed to combine
the actual experience of communing with nature and becoming
instrumental towards the advancement of a unified of the DENR- PENRO in
caring, conserving and preserving the environment. The lesson and the
activity provided a higher level of understanding and awareness
regarding the current state of the environment in Negros, interrelation
of forest ecosystem and its implication to the survival of the people.
The activity also gave the seniors a moment to reflect
upon their lifestyle and habits, and contemplate on their commitment to
their environment.
The travel started from BTTHS at 6:30 A.M. and reached
Mambukal at 7:30 A.M.. A Science officer, a butterfly expert and DENR
Forest Guide, medics led the travel to the DENR Warag station. The
seniors were well organized with team guides and sweepers, team
facilitators for group dynamics and teachers. After the tree planting ,
the seniors went back to Mambucal Resort and enjoyed the dipping pool,
swimming pool, the river, boating and butterfly garden. Mambucal Resort
had no visitors on that day and seniors enjoyed the place all to
themselves.
